Please read prior to installing your custom vinyl graphic
1. Your custom vinyl graphic adheres best to clean (do not use soap or
any household cleaning agents), dry, smooth flat interior surfaces including
painted walls (paint must be completely cured - please allow 30 days
or more), ceilings, mirrors, certain plastics and finished woods.
2. For the best results, your vinyl graphic should be at room temperature
before installation.
3. Do not fold or crease your graphic, rolling is recommended.
4. Your custom vinyl graphic comes with a backing to protect the adhesive
and (may also have) a pre-mask on the front. The pre-mask holds your
graphic in place for accurate spacing and simplifies installation. Removing
the pre-mask is the LAST step in the installation process. Certain smaller,
custom-cut vinyl graphics do not require a pre-mask and can be removed
from their backing and applied directly to the chosen surface.
5. For installation, a plastic squeegee or credit card is recommended
for applying/burnishing graphic and eliminating any air bubbles. NOTE:
After the pre-mask is removed, wrap a clean piece of material (such as
a sock or washcloth) around your plastic squeegee or credit card to avoid
abrasions to your vinyl graphic.
6. Correctly installed, air bubbles should not occur. If however, some
air bubbles occur, begin at the center of your graphic and push toward
the outside edges.
INSTALLATION
TOOLS REQUIRED:
• measuring tape
•
pencil & eraser
• level - regular or laser
•
low-tack masking/painter's tape
• application/burnishing tool (plastic/rubber
squeegee or credit card, piece of cloth or material) 1. For larger vinyl graphics, two people are recommended for installation.
2. Measure and position your graphic in the desired location and secure
it in place at the top with low-tack masking tape (this will act
as a hinge), applying the tape to the front of the pre-mask.
3. It is recommended that if your vinyl graphic is taller than wider,
begin peeling the backing from the top (use tape hinge on side/sides,
removing when necessary). If it is wider than it is tall, begin peeling
from right to left (use tape hinge on side/sides, removing when necessary).
4. Flip your graphic over its hinge(s) and peel/fold back approximately
2 inches of BACKING. Then, let your graphic return to its hanging/taped
position and carefully apply the first two inches of vinyl to the surface.
Press firmly through the pre-mask and begin to sweep your squeegee
or credit card from the adhered area of your graphic outwards to its
edges ensuring a constant, firm contact with the surface. Slowly and
gradually continue to peel the backing from the graphic. One installer
can remain at the starting end of the graphic, holding it where needed
and ensuring that the second installer is able to slowly and continuously
disengage the backing and apply the vinyl.
5. Do not allow the graphic to adhere to itself. It may stretch or
rip while you attempt to disengage it from itself.
6. Once the graphic has been completely applied, remove the pre-mask
carefully. Ensure the graphic remains on the applied surface. For delicate
or fine vinyl cut areas, proceed slowly and remove the backing in smaller
sections by gently curling/rolling the backing away from the vinyl.
7. If air bubbles are apparent after application, wrap your burnishing
tool with a cloth and apply pressure with your squeegee/credit card
beginning in the middle and pressing out towards the edges. Small air
bubbles will often disappear within first 24 hours. Washable, durable vinyl is best suited to low-traffic areas. (Do not
use any solvent or soap to clean your vinyl graphic.) Adheres to most
flat surfaces and finishes. Best of all, this product is removable!
